"Brilliant work"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Accident & Emergency University Hospital Ayr / Cardiology University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiology

(as a relative),

In the early hours of  9th August 2021 my 81years old husband suffered a heart attack. We live in the small town Girvan in South Ayrshire. We did not realised what is going on as it was no chest pain and it looked very similar to TIA he had 20 years ago.  His life was saved by fantastic coordinated efforts of two two paramedics team and doctors of Ayr A&E  and Coronary Care Unit in Hairmyres Hospital. After his condition was stabilised he got two stents installed and in five days transferred back to Ayr to Acute Cardiology Ward.

As my husband does not speak much English (we moved from Russia in 1990th) and suffer from mild dementia me and my son were allowed to stay with him 24/7. We were hugely impressed by modern technologies and seamless management, but most of all by the attitude of staff toward patients  - human, good humoured, attentive.

Everybody was just brilliant – huge thanks to doctors and nurses!

Dear Edward's wife

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch with us regarding your husbands recent experience.

The teams you mention will be delighted to hear that, despite what must have been a traumatic time for your family, you felt that the treatment from a medical and personal perspective was brilliant.

I will be sure to pass on your thanks to all involved.

Hopefully Edward continues to recover well.

Many Thanks

Angela
