A huge thank you to the ambulancemen Will and Matt, the Emergency Department staff, especially Jyoti, and all the staff who looked after me on Purbeck Ward at Dorchester County Hospital including doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants and cleaners.
I experienced swift effective care. All the staff were so kind, warm and caring. I was called ' my lovely' ' darling' 'sweetheart', my hand held, a light touch to the arm, all conveying their concern and care for me. When one is in extreme pain these forms of care and kindness are the best medicine. Scans and tests were swift and again the mri staff were reassuring. Doctors explained clearly. I felt safe, in very good hands.
Being a doctor myself it is unusual to be on the receiving end but heartwarming to see the professionalism, respect and kindness shown to me.
I really appreciated the DCH 'family' with people from so many backgrounds.
I saw the poster with all the flags and the Black Lives Matter poster. This is great. Being from London I felt very glad to be with people from different cultures and religions.
I'm glad to be home but want to say a huge thank you.I felt safe and cared for and had expert care.
