"Gastroscopy"

About: Wycombe Hospital

Although the appointment was booked for 14.30, nothing started until 16.30, by which time I was very thirsty (having been told to abstain from fluids for several hours beforehand). I had the impression that everyone is given the same appointment time and you just wait your turn. Next, the cannula which was inserted was by far the most painful I have ever had - pain that continued until it was removed. Finally, when the nurse told me the result, I am afraid that her poor English pronounciation, exacerbated by a mask, made it very difficult to understand what she was saying - fortunately the Patient Report which we read later was clear. There were other issues throughout the process, but these are the main points. Very disappointing level of service compared to recent procedures at other hospitals (although of course grateful that I was seen in these Covid times etc. etc.)
