"EMDR service Enniskillen"

About: South West Acute Hospital / Adult Mental Health Services

(as a service user),

I have just had my second session of EMDR with Feargal at the SWAH in Enniskillen. Having carried years of trauma and anxiety and bring to umpteen counsellors, CBT sessions, Nexus and everything you can think of, this is the most unbelievably effect therapy I’ve ever done. In just two sessions I have been able to eliminate the trauma and anxiety I have carried for almost 40 years and did not even have to disclose what it was to the therapist. It has brought me back from the brink of suicide.

You must try this and I feel everyone needs to know about it and more staff need to be trained in it ASAP. I am a complete sceptic sometimes but this has to be tried to be believed! So happy to have been referred by my GP

Dear PaulsTB,

Thank you for taking the time to post your story on Care Opinion. It's great to hear you are benefiting from the care you have received from Fergal and the mental health team based at the South West Acute Hospital site. I will ensure they are made aware of your post and your kind comments will no doubt be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Update posted by PaulsTB (a service user)

Just an update since I last posted. It’s now 9 weeks since I first started EMDR with Fergal in the SWAH Enniskillen.

I am now off all medication for just over 4 weeks and I’ve never felt more human and in control of my emotions. I never in a million years thought I could ever be medication free, never mind within such a short space of time.

Not only has the therapy helped me deal with historic traumas and present issues but it also helped me cope with the symptoms of withdrawal from my daily doses 60mg of duloxetine and 5mg of diazepam that I’ve been on for years.

Again I have to say I can’t recommend EMDR enough and have been showing some members my team in work and some friends the basics of it and advising they ask their GPs to refer them for this. It’s just a pity that the waiting list is long due to lack of resource.

I can’t thank Fergal enough for basically saving my life. I’ll take EMDR with me through the rest of my life as it’s so easy to do anytime, anywhere.
