I have benefited from the outstanding care and service at St Richard’s Hospital over the past two and a half years.
In August 2010 I was referred to a doctor with hyperparathyroidism and after detailed examinations, blood tests and scans it was decided that surgery would be the best route. I was then referred to a consultant who took great care in preparing for surgery. When I was admitted for the operation in April 2011 everyone was most caring from the first stage to recovery and discharge the following day. Each stage of the procedure was explained and I was handed at each step with great courtesy and explanation. There was no exception to this at any stage, even to the point when the anaesthetic was administered. After care was also excellent with the consultant visiting the ward very early the next day to explain the outcomes of the surgical operation. Subsequent after care has stabilised calcium levels. Follow up care from the consultant and doctor has been thorough, considerate and exemplary.
I want to thank the doctor and the consultant and their teams for their high standards of professional practice. I also want to thank all staff at the hospital including reception, haematology, and nursing staff, all of whom have shown great care at all times. This experience has shown the NHS at its best.
