"Patients belongings kept on the floor"

About: Victoria Hospital / General Medicine

(as a service user),

Staff I encountered on ward 9 were extremely rude and have a poor attitude, they even put the phone down on me when I asked a question. Received a call from a staff member who had totally the wrong information as they hadn’t checked before calling, this could cause people severe distress. Also patients belongings are kept on the floor as there is nowhere to put them, I feel this is a health issue surely. Wouldn’t recommend this ward to anyone.

Thank you for raising this concern over staff attitude and please be assured this falls well below the standard of behaviour we expect from our nursing staff. Staff must ensure they are delivering the correct information to relatives and I am very sorry that you were given inaccurate updates.

There is small wardrobe for each patient in ward 9 so there is no reason to be leaving patient belongings on the floor.

It is disappointing to read about your experience and I offer my apologies for this and assurance this will be addressed with the team.
