"Going to take up paddle boarding soon!"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Accident & Emergency Crosshouse Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

I had an accident. My Femur fractured, and dislocated hip. I was getting ready to exercise. As tried to get onto mat, heard crack. Then fell heavily dislocating hip. Called 999 services. Every single person I met that morning, beginning with the Paramedics, were amazing. They all went above and beyond. Here are some of the exceptional people's names.   Louise & Fraser (Para), Lisa, tech student. Rab, Para and driver Jamie.

These people, safely dealt with getting me lifted downstairs, onto ambulance trolley.   I can't thank them enough for the care they gave me that horrible day. We even managed some humorous moments, keeping my spirits up. When arrived at AE Crosshouse, the high standard of care continued. Every single person, nurses, auxiliary staff, doctors and consultants.   All dealt with me with  compassion, caring and speed. Again managed some humour to lift spirits.   Dr Holt, was surgeon, who carried out repair.   The man is a genius. Am home now and in recovery,   my sincere thanks to everyone involved in my care. The wards were very busy, but saw staff doggedly working hard, to see to every patients needs. Thanks again to everyone,   thinking about taking up Paddle boarding soon.     Kind Regards

Dear dorothy50

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your Feedback here on CareOpinion.

I am so sorry to read about you fracturing your femur and disclocating your hip. I can't imagine the pain you must have endured.

The care given to you by everyone involved in looking after you sounds exemplary and I am so pleased to read about all our staff making a real difference too! I am glad there was also humour along the way as this would have hopefully helped to relax you a little!

I would be delighted to pass on your kind words to Louise, Fraser, Lisa, Rab and Jamie. If you would like this to happen, please may we ask you email our team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, address and date of when we attended to you. Please may we ask you also make reference to your CareOpinion user name which will help us to easily link to this story.

I wish you a speedy recovery and hope it's not long till you are back to exercising again!

Best Wishes

Lesley

I have tried to access sas.feedback@nhs.scot but to no avail. Would you be able to pass on my gratitude for all the services involved, in my care. The episode was last week of August. I have completely lost days and dates of what happened when. Time seems to have just rolled together. Thank you for all your help xx

Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to share your lovely feedback. We have shared your kind comments with the ED and Surgical Teams at University Hospital Crosshouse, which they were delighted to receive. It was reassuring for the staff involved to know that their efforts to support you through this most traumatic experience have been so well rewarded.

Wishing you all the very best for your ongoing recovery and go easy with the paddle boarding!

Thanks again.

Linda

Thank you for letting me know, you shared it with all the staff. I am so glad staff were pleased to hear of their good work. They deserve to know of their good work. It makes such a difference to having a not so nice experience, to be treated with care, concern and kindness. Keep up you good work and thanks again. xx
