Hi there I just thought I would put this out there incase it's affected Any other parents. Our daughter who was 13 days old was admitted after being released after 1 week she had the lipsitz scoring so was discharged as was doing great, but after 9th day started to show signs of irritation and pain.
So, after 3 days of telling health visitor and midwife's I finally got them to call hospital and take our daughter in. Our first night, couldn't fault it in neonatal, the care is world class - it's when we got moved to pediatric ward that it felt like 3rd world care, as all they did was come and administer drugs and away they went. Remember, this is a newborn so mum and dad get sleep when she is asleep, but they came in at 8 in morning demanding we put the bed away so then I was left on a chair when you have been up all-night with baby. It's a newborn not a child, she shouldn't be in this ward at all, never mind being treated as if a toddler.
When our daughter was in transitional care you just knew she was cared for and in The best place but to then put a 13 day old baby in a ward where she can't receive the same care she received only 1 week prior is a failure of her and has shocked me To my core. We also asked for a room as mum had just basically given birth so still going through some stuff and was told no those were for specific cases. If our daughter wasn't a special case then I'm worried. Also doctor informed us our daughter was youngest they had treated down there so seems she isn't meant to be in a children's ward but is popped down there as there isn't enough space, staff or time for all new babies which there should always be time for ...
