"Charity Summer Fete at Womens Services Rampton"

About: Rampton Hospital Rampton Hospital / National High Secure Healthcare Service for Women

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I wanted to include some feedback from patients who attended this event held at DRC Womens Services Rampton for Care after Combat.  These events are really important for bringing people together.  The patient comments are below:

"I thought it was a really good day. There was a lot of thought and effort went into it for a very good cause. I’ve seen a lot of people I had not seen for a very long time due to covid. I think it was very organised and well set out. Well done to the DRC".

"I attended the function yesterday and enjoyed the whole experience. It was very well done by the DRC and I am looking forward to the next one".

"I enjoyed all the stalls, and how it brought the women’s service together. I enjoyed the competitions and how it brought my peers together and seeing people I haven’t seen in a long time".

"I thought it was really wicked. The idea of a crisp sandwich was original and pretty cool. The pink lemonade in the nice glasses made me feel very elegant holding it. The music was great and me and some of the others had a good dance, the atmosphere was amazing. All the different stalls were very well set out and made me feel like I was somewhere else and stepped into an outside world. Big thank you to Kath and the DRC team".

"We got to see people we haven’t seen for 16 months. There was a good sense of community/togetherness. People who predominantly in their rooms managed to get off the ward and enjoy the atmosphere so credit to the staff and team. There was no blips as people were occupied and distracted in a positive and interesting manner".

"I think the event was amazing. All the DRC Therapy, Education staff who organised it did a very good job. I felt amazing throughout and it was nice to see everyone again after the whole pandemic. I think we should have more things like this as it seemed everyone had a good time and it’s nice to have a good time at Rampton".

"I really enjoyed myself out in the sun and doing all the activities. It was really buzzing! The food and ice poles were nice, and it was a good celebration. I know it was for charity but happened to coincide with the lifting of some restrictions, so it was a double celebration"!

"I went out onto the women’s compound and it was nice weather and all the staff were very happy and relaxed. I walked and chatted to a peer. I donated £1 and had a bottle of Dr Pepper and a packet of crisps. There was music and some patients sang along. It was nice to see the tables had umbrellas on and people were given ice poles to keep warm. The people who cut the grass had been round and it was nice to be able to sit on the grass, People were chilled out and the books stalls amongst the others went well".

"The summer fate was a good day for everyone to get together, I enjoyed spending time with everyone. There was lots of fun stuff to do and everyone enjoyed spending time together. Thank you to everyone that arranged it and took part. I would go to another one of these events".

"The summer fate was exciting and filled with happiness and joy. The staff were great, they really made it an enjoyable day, and everyone enjoyed themselves. We would like another event like this so we can all take part again".

"I thought it was a brilliant day. It felt like normal life again in Rampton because we were all together. I enjoyed the stalls, especially the Guinea pig stall. I would like it if we could have more things like this.
I thought it was a really good day. The staff were good, they entertained us and looked after us. It was all for a very good cause. I enjoyed all the stalls too. I won lots of prizes and brought books from the book stall".

Hi DRC WS staff & Patients.

Thank you so much to all the patients that have taken the time to write all these positive care opinions. we all had a fantastic day and raised so much for the charity Care after Combat. Reading the stories you all enjoyed the day. Therapies and Education Services within the DRC work really hard to make these events enjoyable and meaningful.

I will print all the opinions and responses and display in the DRC cabinet.

Thanks again

Kath

Dear Katwa77

Please can you pass on this reply to the patients from Michael, who is a Feedback Volunteer with you at Rampton Hospital.

“I was delighted to read all this positive feedback about the 'Care after Combat event. It’s so good to hear that the Women’s Services at Rampton Hospital have managed to put together another really successful collaborative special day in spite of all the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.

As an Involvement volunteer I’ve been fortunate to have been invited and able to attend a number of special days like this over the past 4 years. So much hard work goes into these events and I know many have been co-produced with invaluable input by patients. They are always so uplifting and truly do help in the recovery and team-building processes.

Well done everyone. Stay safe and as well as possible. I look forward to coming along in person to help gather feedback, and possibly to celebrate more of your accomplishments - asap!”

Michael - Feedback Volunteer The Rosewood Centre
