"Getting a Kyleena coil fitted"

About: Sexual Health Services - Telford and Wrekin (Open Clinic)

(as a service user),

I had to go to the sexual health clinic as my GP was unable to fit a contraceptive coil in. I have a prolapse from having given birth vaginally to my son five years ago.

I rang up the clinic and was given an appointment about a month after I’d rang up. It was only on a Tuesday evening that the expert doctor was in so I duly went.

The doctor (Dr K - can’t read his writing!) and Sue the nurse were fabulous. The procedure went smoothly - no issues at all with fitting the coil, it was done very quickly. I found the whole experience excellent, friendly and warm. The doctor and nurse worked very well as a team and I felt very fortunate to have been in their care.

I was told I was a very good patient and it’s always lovely to get positive feedback!

Thank you very much for fitting a very low hormone coil (which is what I wanted as my mum died of breast cancer so wary of hormonal intervention) so expertly and making the experience a positive one.

Fingers crossed I now have contraception sorted for 5 years, and it’s amazing to acknowledge it was all done for free!
