"Kept informed about the lack of beds"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Dept of Scheduled Admissions Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Urology (Bladder and Urinary problems)

(as the patient),

I have to thank all the staff in the Department of Scheduled Admissions. For being friendly and polite. On arrival the receptionist took my details and I took a seat. Then the registrar took me through to a room to explain the procedure I was having that day. I was then admitted in by a nurse on the ward. There was a bit of an issue due to lack of beds up in ward 209 which I had to patiently wait for. But I was kept well informed of what was happening. The consultant ms royal came through aswell to ask about a bed and that she could still do the procedure if I had someone to take me home. I had to say no. She was very understanding and they tried to find me a bed.

At that point the aneathatist came through to go over the care. At that point they found a bed up in the ward and it was time to go through for the procedure. All went well and all gave excellent aftercare up on the ward. Even when a catheter had to be fitted although they tried to avoid it. Plenty supplies of tea and biscuits as well as good supper and breakfast and lunch the next day

Dear "Fyvie Lad 93"

Thank you for taking the time to give us such positive feedback, it really is much appreciated. It really is great to hear that you found staff to be friendly and polite. It's reassuring to know that you felt the care you received throughout your stay in the hospital was excellent.

It has been a difficult time for everyone lately and feedback such as you have given really does go a long way to boost staff morale and reminds staff that they are doing a good job and that they are appreciated.

I will be sure to pass your kind words onto my colleagues and I hope that you are recovering well.

Kind regards,

Eleanor.
