I went to the emergency department at around 4pm and wasn’t seen until 3am the next morning. In the waiting area there weren’t even enough seats for everyone so I stood for 6/7 hours so it would be good to see more seating available. There was a consultant from London who was originally from Nigeria who was brilliant, he apologised profusely about my wait and did everything he could to try find out what was wrong with me. He thoroughly explained everything to me and went through all my blood tests with a fine tooth comb to find anything wrong with them.
I was then moved to the ambulatory unit which has been fantastic on all three of my visits. I am given an appointment time and everything always runs smoothly and efficiently, it is really gold star treatment in here. The Sister McVeigh is really good. The first time I came in she explained everything to me and settled me down. The when I came back she came over to me again and said she’d try chase up my referrals. It is really appreciated that she would go the extra mile. Also, the lady in here who brings tea and biscuits is excellent and always checks up on you. It feels really safe regarding covid, the plastic sheets up as well as the blue curtains really add to it. I am always seen quickly by consultant Dr Stewart who is great and very honest, he makes me feel reassured and makes realistic promises not false ones.
