I had two wisdom teeth removed. All the staff were, of course, very friendly and kind as they always are at NDDH. The procedure was much quicker than I had expected, and I hardly felt a thing. The tooth on the right side was more troublesome to remove than the other, but the doctor explained everything as he was going, which made me comfortable.
The following day, the left side of my mouth felt quite normal, with no discomfort at all. The right side, which had to have the gum cut to get at the root of the tooth, was a bit tender and there was some swelling. The swelling was greater the following day, so, to be on the safe side, I rang the department to check that all was well. A very helpful and informative nurse called back and explained that swelling is quite normal and, provided it wasn't very painful, causing swallowing problems or spreading down my neck, there was nothing to worry about.
I'm very grateful to the staff at the NDDH Maxillo-Facial unit for their care and efficiency. I hope I shan't have to bother them again with any further tooth problems, but if I do, I shall have every confidence that they will look after me superbly.
