Elderly father with dementia visited by local GP (part of a local practice). Dad is feeling very tired and breathless and is clearly distressed and looking for reassurance.
This GP breezed in (as witnessed by dad's care manager and carer), looked at Dad and when asked what the bottom line was, said, "you're old" and turned on his heel and walked out saying he had other people to see.
No kindness, no reassurance, no effort to see whether the situation could be improved. This would be bad enough for any patient, but for a vulnerable elderly one who is clearly scared and confused, it's appalling.
"If you're old, don't waste my time..."
