"my mum died of cancer at Derriford"

About: Derriford Hospital / Oncology

(as a relative),

I believe Derriford could have prevented my mum’s death. She was riddled with cancer.

Treliske doctors found this immediately, only it was too late then. Yet she had been in Derriford for months under their care.

Instead her family including her devoted husband for over 20 years and her mother and her 17 year old daughter had to stand there at her bedside and watch her take her lasts breaths.. It may have been decided not to sue the hospital but I assure you, that was not my decision.

Firstly, I would like to express our sincere condolences to you and your family on your great loss. I was very sad to learn that your mum was found to have advanced cancer by the medical team at Treliske after she had been under the care of the Derriford team for some months and can only imagine the shock and distress this caused your family. We would very much welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you. I do appreciate that the subject is extremely painful for you but if you feel able to speak to me, I can be contacted direct on 01752 439751.

I do hope that we can speak soon.

Kindest regards

Mary
