I have just come to the end of my 9 month long breast cancer journey and thankfully my outcome is good. From the moment I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer I had marvellous care from all NHS staff. Covid meant I could only have my partner with me at consultations which were giving me results or choices but in all honesty the cancer care nurses were so attentive and made sure I did not feel alone. In fact I felt safer having just the staff and patients there. Less people to perhaps carry the virus and therefore endanger us cancer patients. Throughout the 9 months all appointments were communicated verbally and in writing and everything went like clockwork. There is also a 24 hour helpline which I had to use a few times and the staff there were so caring and arranged medication or treatment same day then followed it up next day to see if I was alright. We are so lucky to have our NHS and to have such wonderful care staff working for it. I can never thank them enough for saving me. Mentions to Forth Valley, Monklands, Wishaw General and Hairmyers Hospitals and Lanarkshire Beatson for my wonderful care.
