"Hospital at home allowed me to care for my mum at home"

About: Midlothian Community Hospital / Hospital @ Home (Midlothian)

(as a service user),

Because of this wonderful service, with fabulous Nurses and Doctors, I was able to keep my mum at home and care for her without the stress of going into hospital where she would have been disoriented and more confused.

We were able to keep her at home and manage her delirium with people around her that she recognised and in her own environment which was all familiar so important.

Staff kept in touch and gave advice, but were no way invasive. Such a great service to be able to offer.

Thank you NHS Lothian!

Thank you for your lovely feedback!

Delirium is a really tricky condition to deal with and a big part of the problem is often to do with being in an unfamiliar environment. I'm really pleased to hear that the team were able to help you to provide care for your mum at home - I'm sure she will have benefited from being looked after by family members in a place that she knew.

I will make sure that your kind words are passed on to all the doctors and nurses in the team. It's helpful for us to get these reports so that we know what works well for our patients and their families. Thank you for taking the time to do this.

In return, please accept our best wishes to you and your family for the days, weeks and months to come.
