"Communication with family of patients"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Care of the Elderly (Wards 9-12)

(as a relative),

Severe lack of communication with family of patients.   It feels like a huge deal when you ask a question.   I understand people are busy but some of the staff need reminded that they are the link between families and  also need to try putting themselves in the position of the patient, and see how they are treating them.   I know it sounds simple but we all need reminded sometimes.

Dear Woodvale

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your feedback on care opinion. Please accept my sincere apologies for the lack of communication your family received. I do appreciate how difficult it is having a loved one in hospital, and how important good communication is for family members. Please be assured that the Senior Nurse for Care of the Elderly at University Hospital Wishaw will discuss your comments with all staff to allow them to reflect upon their communication skills in order that lessons can be learnt and improvements are made.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

Best wishes.

Lesley
