"Pain management"

About: Causeway Hospital / Outpatients

(as the patient),

I waited 3 years to get an appointment with the pain clinic. When I attended the person I saw actually asked me why I was there even though I had been referred from another consultant in the hospital. They knew nothing about what had happened to me. When I was asked a question and I tried to reply they talked over the top of me. I was there 5 minutes, if even that and was told there’s nothing they can do for me I just have to live with the pain. I was disgusted at the way I was just dismissed after waiting all those years. Their manner was nothing else but rude and abrupt and to not even be aware of any background is just inexcusable.

Dear Redhead66,

My name is Leigh and I am the Patient Experience Facilitator for the Northern Trust. I'm really sorry to read that your experience with our pain team wasn't a positive one. Our staff should abide by the HSC Values, and I am sorry that on this occasion you were made to feel dismissed and not listened to. I would be keen to chat with you, so that I can find out a little more about your experience, and also whether there are any other services that I might be able to signpost you to going forward.

Thank you for providing feedback.

Best wishes,

Leigh
