"Feeling left in the dark"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

I have received a letter this morning from the Urology department as I was supposed to be having a face to face appointment with Mr Moody, this has now been delayed.

I feel uninformed about what's actually going on, I also had a barium x-ray back in June and still have had no results from that and its nearly 2 & half months down the line.
I feel like nobody seems to care and I'm sorry I think its completely unacceptable. I appreciate there are delays due to covid but surely someone could pick up the phone and help make the patients feel more informed. A simply apology and explanation wouldn't go a miss. I feel like there is a lack of communication between the services and the patient and would like to feel more informed.

Dear larz51

Thank you for your feedback. I am very sorry that you feel our services have fallen short of your expectations on this occasion.

I agree that lack of communication can make you feel uninformed and left in the dark. To this end I would really like to try and look into your case on an individual basis to try and help you.

If you would like to contact me, please do so on my direct line 01271 314129 or email me on paula.howells@nhs.net. Again please accept our apologies regarding the delay in your appointment and I hope to be able to look into this further for you.

Kind regards

Paula
