"Drive through COVID Testing at Glasgow Airport"

(as the patient),

I attended the Covid testing ( Drive Through) at Glasgow Airport today. My husband and I had to attend forPCR tests as our son had tested positive following a test yesterday.

My husband was tested first by the same person who had tested my son yesterday. The person was lovely introducing themselves and explaining the process clearly. My tester approached the car I asked if I should blow my nose as the other tester advised. They replied “ I thought you would have done that “ They asked me to turn round open my mouth so they could get a good look at my throat and to put my hand up to stop. They inserted the swab to the back of my throat so roughly that I gagged continually. I asked if I could do it myself and explained I had been doing regular lateral flow tests and never felt this way. They replied that I could apply for a home test if I wanted. They then swabbed my nostrils, they stuck the swab upwards and backwards   very roughly which was again very uncomfortable.

As a nurse of 40 years experience would never treat a patient in this way. I will not take a drive through test again and will opt for a home test. My son and husband’s experience with the other tester was excellent.
