My nan was in the MAU Eliot ward for 2 weeks and all the time she was there she was upset and begging to come home.
I myself experienced poor conditions and no privacy on the ward. When I was there my nan needed the toilet so I asked a nurse and she said one moment and didn't come back, so I asked another nurse and was ignored, so finally after a stern word with a male nurse she was helped to the toilet.
My nan also told us that when she was alone she pressed the alarm and nobody came so she wet the bed, and when the nurse finally came she was very rude and angry that my nan had wet the bed.
On another occasion my sister had visited and noticed my nan's bed had been raised high to try and keep her in bed to prevent falling. My sister noticed under the bed was very messy and dirty, and so took my nan to the cafe and asked the nurse to clean under the bed while she was gone. To my sisters anger they told her they were busy and couldn't do it yet, but my sister explained it would only take 2 minutes and demanded it to be done before they returned. The bed was cleaned when she arrived back.
Overall very disgusted and disappointed with the service my nan had experienced. Something needs to be done so it does not happen to anyone else.
