"fantastic care and compassion"

About: Hawick Community Hospital / Older people's care (inpatient)

(as a relative),

Our mother was admitted to Hawick Community Hospital in June from Borders General Hospital Stroke Unit, the day after our father’s funeral. The staff, without exception, took such great care of our mother during her period of bereavement and her declining health and the family will never forget the attention to detail and the kindness shown to her during this period. Our mother passed away exactly 10 weeks to the day after her beloved husband and this extremely difficult period for our family was greatly eased by the wonderful support and respect we received from all the staff. Compassionate care at it’s very best. Thank you all.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback during this difficult time for you and your family. The team at Hawick Community Hospital work very hard to provide person centered care and we are all very proud of the service they offer to their patients and families.

During some very challenging days for us all, it is very heartening to hear that you felt your mother received not only the care needed during her stay at Hawick but also staff were aware she was grieving and were able to support her at that time. Please accept our condolences and our thoughts are with you at this sad time.

I will ensure that your feedback is shared with the team at Hawick and wider management.

Kind regards,

Caroline Burgess

Clinical Nurse Manager
