"Maxiofacial"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Oral and Maxillo-facial Surgery & Medicine General practices in Ayrshire & Arran

(as a service user),

I developed a lump near and under my right eye November 2019 and seen my GP January 2020. They advised if it got any bigger to get back in touch. It did indeed get bigger so back to GP in October ( via telephone and sending in pictures due to COVID) who referred me to maxiofacial at Crosshouse hospital. I hear nothing at all from them and eventually called in March 2021 and told there is a significant waiting list but to go back to GP if my vision is affected. This lump has grown huge and my vision is affected now so back to GP again (via phone call/pictures ) in early July who then made an urgent referral. More than a month on and still no contact. Called them to be told there is an 80 week waiting list. I am so disappointed and upset not to mention worried this lump is possibly cancerous. I feel let down by this department!

Dear Tealeaf32

I'm sorry to hear you have had a long wait for your procedure, we are working our way through a significant backlog of patients with similar issues, and we continue to have to work under the restrictions of the pandemic, still very much the case in NHS premises at present.

Without your full name and date of birth I won't be able to look at your individual details so I would ask that you get in touch with me and I will find out what's happening, where you are on the waiting list, and what we can do to help.

Best wishes

Tracy
