I came into hospital last night. I came via the the emergency department after getting a lift to the hospital from a relative. I was very pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to wait long at all to be seen to and was triaged within about 10 minutes of my arrival.
This was very surprising as there is a real stigma attached to hospital waiting times but I have to say, on this occasion everything was very efficient. I then waited for some time in the emergency department reception before being transferred to the ambulatory unit. It is much quieter and less chaotic than the madness of the emergency department and I feel fairly content in my surroundings.
The staff throughout the hospital have been very good. They are kind and helpful and treat you with the best of intentions. The only thing I would say is you can sometimes be left wondering about what was going on and it would be great if they could tell you more clearly what the plan for your treatment is so you aren't left feeling in the dark and lacking control of your situation. They would always answer my questions however and sort out whatever you asked them to do.
I have been given sufficient fluids and food although I cannot really comment on the food as it didn't have a sufficient appetite to try it.
My personal area on the ward is very satisfactory however I can't wait to see the back of these chairs. They aren't the most comfortable especially when you have to sit in them for hours on end. I like to be up and moving so hate the feeling of being limited to sitting in one position.
Apart from what I have already said, there are no improvements I can think of that I would like to see made.
"Everything was very efficient."
