"Laser surgery"

About: New Cross Hospital / Eye infirmary

(as the patient),

I went for my second eye laser surgery went in the room did not catch name, it was said too quick. l sat down and they only put one lot of drops (First laser surgery put two lots of drops ). As soon as they were in, I was not given a few minutes to get ready, they put the lens in and just started blasting my right eye. It was very painful and I kept on moving back, I did not realise I was moving back, all that was said to me was can you stop moving then they said the lens is not in right so it was taken out and put straight back, then carried on blasting. When finished they just immediately started on the left eye, did not give me a minute to get ready just put the lens in and started blasting and again it was very painful. On my previous visit I was given a few minutes before starting again.

When it was finished they said they had lasered a lot so I won’t need to come for about 3-4 months  (I was previously told my eyes were to be lasered every 6-8 weeks). When I got up I felt very unsteady and had to hold on to the table and wall for a couple of minutes and then started walking to the door and managed to get my self to the chairs I felt terrible. I thought it was terrible how I was treated and this needs to be stopped. I hope you will speak to the staff member involved, I am considering taking my complaint further if nothing is done.
