"Gall Bladder Removal surgery"

About: Borders General Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

My consultant Mr Pals,  Simon the surgeon, the nurse in charge at theatre Nikki and her colleagues, Mr Pals junior doctor, all of the amazing nurses on day shift and night time staff, the amazing and patient phlebotomist, the cleaning staff ladies, and of course the anaesthesia consultants too.

I wish to convey my most sincere thanks and gratitude to all of you involved in my nights stay on Ward 17 at the beginning of August.

I’ve been in numerous hospitals including private ones and I have never experienced such cleanliness! Your ward is the cleanest by miles!

The level of care and reassurance I received throughout my stay was absolutely outstanding from everyone. What a fantastic team.

Simon you really did go the extra mile for me checking and re checking all of my illnesses prior to the operation. I thank you so very much for doing over and above the call of duty to keep me safe.

All of the nurses were incredible, absolutely amazing. May I though just especially mention the nurse with brunette hair who keeps horses, who kept my hair out of my face as I double vomited following surgery and gave me reassurance along the way.

The other nurse on night shift really was so kind, and made me so comfortable to enable me to sleep well too, thank you. Nothing was too much trouble and she was very sweet to me.

Getting my blood is often difficult, but your young man on phlebotomy is worth his weight in gold. I explained to him that it’s often difficult. He really took his time, he never hurt me (and that’s easy to do due to my fibromyalgia and MS) and he was successful on first attempt as a result of him listening to me and taking it slow. I had no bruising there either! Thank you very much for listening to me and for showing such care and skill in your role.

I am recovering well as I write this note of thanks. I’m looking forward to a huge improvement in daily life due to no more painful episodes caused by my gall bladder, good riddance to that!

A newbie to the Borders. I’m blown away by the competence, cleanliness, kindness and care at your hospital. I wish you all the very best, may you all receive huge pay rises and take a well earned holiday too.
