"I was referred to the Early Cancer Diagnostic Centre by my GP for some worrying symptoms."

About: Fife Community Services / Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Service (RCDS) Queen Margaret Hospital / Radiology

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I was contacted very quickly by the consultant to have a chat about my symptoms and I was referred for a CT scan. I was amazed at how quickly I was informed of when my scan would would be. I was able to go to the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline, Fife for my scan which was much easier for me to get to rather than going to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. During my scan the staff were very helpful and I felt my dignity was maintained at all times. Again, I was given my results very quickly and thankfully it was good news. I have no complaints at all with the ECDC team or radiology department at Queen Margaret Hospital. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Fantastic service!

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on your recent visit. I am really pleased to hear that you received a friendly and helpful service. The early cancer diagnostic centre (ECDC) was established with a person centered approach to ensure patients have fast access to tests, such as the CT scan you had. It is essential that appropriate support is in place so that patients like yourself feel supported through each step of the journey. Being referrered for tests to check for cancer can cause anxiety for patients and it is reassuring to hear that you felt supported and cared for at this worrying time for you, and importantly received a quick diagnosis.

The ECDC service is made up of a multi-professional team including, doctors, specilaist nurses, radiographers and administration teams, all of whom play a key role in the functioning of the service. It is fantastic for us to recieve this positive feedback and reassuring to hear that you received the right test at the right time, in the right place for you. I will be certain to share your compliments across the whole team.
