"Visit to minor injuries"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Minor injuries unit

(as a service user),

Hello

I had an accident and attended minor injuries at the New Queen Victoria Hospital as I wanted to check if my thumb was broken. From the moment I arrived, the lovely nurse at the door helped me with my mask, took my temperature and directed me to reception. I can’t remember his name but he wore glasses and was so kind. The lovely gentleman at reception took my details and I didn’t have to wait long before I was called through (I’m sure it was Nurse Karen who did my initial assessment)

I had to have an X-ray and Gemma (radiologist) couldn’t have been more patient. I’m sure her name was Frances but another amazing member of the team brought me a sick bowl and cup of water as I was in so much pain and walked me back to the cubicles.

The Nurse who gave me my splint couldn’t have been nicer either. The whole experience was fantastic from start to finish … everyone I met genuinely cared, talked to me with compassion (and humour!) and I felt compelled to recognise this. The NHS gets a lot of stick but these people are angels in human form. Utterly brilliant. Thank you SO much for taking care of me. You are THE best.

Dear Gumball

Thank you for taking the time to leave us such lovely feedback in regards to your experience of using the minor injuries unit of the New Victoria Hospital.

It was great to hear how all the staff you encountered were friendly and took the time to listen and understand, from the minute you walked through the door at reception to leaving with your splint fitted.

I will delighted to pass on your thanks to all the staff involved who I'm sure will be touched to hear how they made a difference while you were in their care.

I hope your feeling better and thanks again this means a lot to the staff in these difficult times.

Kind regards

Kevin
