"My experience in A&E and ambulatory unit CAH"

I have been into CAH this week on and off since Monday. I think what sticks out for me as the worst part of this hospital experience in particular is my experience in A&E. A&E for me personally was so so bad. The waiting times are completely inappropriate, sitting for hours on end in immense pain in the place you came into for rapid help is crazy to me. This understaffed unit is now becoming so under resourced.

Every time I went back up to reception to get updates about my care or help for my pain, the receptionist would abruptly reply, you will be waiting for 9 or 10 hours, but no matter how many hours went by, it was still a 10 hour wait, it doesn't make sense. The triage nurses briefly came to see me on a few occasions but even then I wasn't informed or kept updated at all. The environment down in the emergency department was also extremely unpleasant, it was just packed and it did make me question whether I was Covid safe. I was very grateful to eventually be given my own area on the yellow area ward and the blue curtain offered me privacy and safety while I waited. 

I am now in Ambulatory and my experience here has been very positive. The staff have been so much more attentive and don't make me feel stupid when I ask about my illness or ask for some help. I am kept updated and informed with regards to my care and think I am receiving the best care I possibly can here. I feel so safe.
