I recently completed a bowel screening test which showed blood in my stool. I received the results within days of submitting the test together with the appropriate paperwork detailing what would happen next.
A few days later I received a telephone call from one of the bowel screening staff nurses who went through exactly what would happen next and was given an appointment for my colonoscopy. Given the current situation I had expected that I would have to wait for some time for this. I was delighted to be given an appointment within 2 weeks. I arranged to have a covid test appointment 3 days before the procedure.
On arrival at Queen Margaret Hospital for my examination, I was greeted by exceptionally helpful staff who took me to the Endoscopy Unit where I was greeted by a lovely receptionist who was very reassuring. I was then seen by one of the nurses who went through in detail what would happen next. The Consultant then saw Ms and explained in further detail the process.
On changing and going to the examination room where I was greeted by yet more helpful and reassuring staff. The examination was completed and the results discussed. On arrival in recovery further checks were carried out before I received tea and toast. The whole experience was amazing from start to finish, particularly given the awful strains on our NHS at the moment. I would like to express my gratitude to all concerned. Our NHS is amazing. Many thanks from a very grateful patient.
