Unfortunately, the reception team who answer the phones are not courteous, well mannered or attentive to emergency needs. Even if they do not have the solutions (understandably) there are no attempts to support patients. Calls are screened and hung up on, and I'm pretty sure they leave the phone line on as 'User Busy' is rather frequent with this team (on both numbers you try to contact). The matter involves broken hearing aids (which is as serious an impact as loss of sight - and would warrant immediate attention) but even when patient and polite, primitive responses (when you eventually get through) such as, 'nothing can be done, you'll have to wait' are often uttered. Understandably the team is busy and very pressured but manners would still go a very long way, particularly for distressed patients who are left without hearing.
