I was taken to hospital by ambulance from my home and the paramedics on board (jay and pete) were wonderful. They were reassuring and kept me informed with what was going on. They listened to me and tried to give me good advice and calm me down.
When I arrived in a&e the staff once again were fantastic. Under all the pressure of the world they still gave me their time and tried their best to get me sorted with a bed on the ward. It was humbling to watch staff work so tirelessly but maintain such a caring and accommodating manner about them. They organised a bed for me on the AMU unit where I stayed for 2 days.
I was finally transferred to the Cardiology ward after a long wait but was very grateful to get a bed. An ECG was organised for me and I didn't have to wait long at all for this. Again the staff were wonderful. From the porter who assisted me up, to the nurses who put the leads on me, they were all fantastic and really helpful.
The cardiology team have been respectful and talk to you like you are a human being. They don't look down at you or make you feel like your health doesn't matter to them. I cannot ask for anything more from staff than that. On one occasion, I felt I was being talked down to by a member of the cardiology team but I appreciate everyone has bad days and they were probably very busy and thinking of 100 other things.Apart from that I cannot complain about my experience in Craigavon Hospital and again wish to extend my praise and thanks to the staff who have listened to me, respected me and given me brilliant advice.
