"Positive experience overall"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Ambulatory Care - Medical Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I came to A&E last night and was triaged on arrival. I was sent for an ECG and then waited in the waiting area until a bed became available in one for the bays in A&E. I was in a bay all night until I was moved this morning to a side room in the ambulatory unit. It is much nicer here. I feel very comfortable in my room. Having been moved from the A&E department which is extremely chaotic I really appreciate the quiet and relaxing atmosphere in this area which promotes rest. The staff have all been extremely pleasant and do an awful lot for you. When I mention staff I mean the doctors, nurses, porters, cleaners etc. Anyone I have come into contact with has been kind and helpful. I was updated regularly enough regarding the plan for moving me between wards and the options for treatment.

I haven't really had an appetite to comment much on the food however it seems to be tolerable. My side room in this area is comfortable and I feel safe and secure. I cannot think of any negative observations to suggest for making improvements as my experience has been a positive one overall.

Thank you for your kind words regarding our staff in A&E, Unfortunately it sounds as if you were waiting for an admission bed the hospital has been under significant pressure with a large number of people regularly waiting on beds on the admission wards as a contingency patients are moved around to the ambulatory unit to create capacity within ED for new patients attending. we hope you are recovering well.
