"Not a pleasant experience"

About: Liaison Psychiatry Nursing team / Adults

(as the patient),

Had an assessment meeting twice with the same doctor, along with my advocate. We both agreed it was not a pleasant experience, without going into personal details, I feel the doctor had a terrible bedside manner.

They did a report that was several pages long, refused to let me see or have it, but sent it to so many people I had to ask Grampian NHS to restrict who could see it, as I felt it was wrong, in so many ways.

It was even added that I had walked out, but not the reason why - that they refused to show me the report on me.

I wrote to the doctor, and a senior staff member, neither even bothered to reply.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

I’m glad to hear that you were able to receive assessment meetings with the Liaison Psychiatry Service when you required them, and that you were able to engage the support of your advocate worker during those assessments. I am however sorry to hear that you did not find those recent encounters with the service to be particularly pleasant experiences.

Given the difficult nature of your experience I would be keen to explore your comments further. With that in mind, I wonder if you would get in touch with me directly to allow me to look into your concerns in more detail.

I can be contacted on 01224 557307, or at michael.forbes@nhs.scot

Many thanks.
