"Flexi sigmoidoscopy"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

I would like to thank the staff who looked after me, Orange zone 3rd floor.

I was introduced to everybody in the room .

Because head went to soup the minute I walked into the room I have forgotten the name of the other nurse that was present. I do however remember Lucy the nurse who looked after me . This lady was brilliant as the procedure was so painful I was asked if I wanted Entonox . So pleased I went for it .

Lucy stayed by my side as I had forgotten how to breath !!!

Seemingly Entonox side effects are feeling lightheaded , drunk or crying .

I went for the crying mode (what a blouse ) again Lucy was fantastic reassuring me all the time .

The procedure was to check for polyps by  Dr Mukhopadhya

Afterwards on the ward with a  welcome cuppa and several biccies.

I have had this procedure done a few times now it’s normally uncomfortable not painful . Without going into too much detail I believe that’s down to good old bowel prep.

I think Plan B may be next ………joy……..

Hi

Thank you for your lovely comments about the staff in endoscopy. It is reassuring and heartfelt to hear especially during the very challenging times we are going through in the NHS.

You most definitely are no blouse. These procedures can be uncomfortable and I hope it wasn't too painful. Taking the Entonox is a really good option even if it can make you a little teary.

I will pass on your kind comments to the staff who I know will be delighted and all the best for Plan B.

Thank you again.

Best wishes

Eleanor (Nurse Manager)
