"My recent hospital stay"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 1 East Gynaecology

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

There have been no problems, some staff have been 110%, other staff have been 200%. The student nurse is great.

I came in confused and I haven't been told why I'm here, I think its because my injection site is infected. The doctor came in and spoke to other patients but not me, it felt like he walked off as if I didn't exist. The food is first class and the amount they give you is exceptional. The bed is clean and comfy. In the toilets there is a large one with arm supports to help you whereas the smaller toilet doesn't have any. An improvement I'd like to see would be for someone to go down to the shop and bring up newspapers as there are no visitors who could bring any in.

Thank you for posting regarding your recent experience.

I will pass your positive feedback to the Catering Team. Not all our toilet facilities are large enough to facilitate the arm supports, but we fit them when the room is suitable.

Many thanks for taking the time to respond, we do welcome all feedback to help us improve the service we offer. As a trust we strive to ensure all our service users are treated with the utmost dignity and respect, I can only apologise that your felt this was not your experience. I am saddened to hear your concerns regarding the lack of communication to yourself onto the staff who were involved in your care to prevent a reoccurrence of this in the future.

Unfortunately due to COVID the mobile shop, with newspapers, has been suspended to reduce footfall within the hospital to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID to all involved. it is hoped when restrictions within the hospital ease that this service will be reinstated.

I will pass your comments on to our catering team and I know your kind words about the student nurse has already been shared with the practice education facilitator.
