I have had a relatively good experience in here apart from the lack of beds. I was in A&E for 2 nights as I was waiting for a bed to become free. I was seen after 8 hours waiting and was put into a cubicle while I waited for a bed.
The waiting room was so busy but I felt safe when I finally got put into my own cubicle as I have a problem with my immune system. The waiting room was so so warm. It was like a greenhouse as there were no windows open and the sun was beaming through the glass roof. There was no ventilation despite so many people sitting around.
It was very hard to get to sleep as it was so busy and noisy. The staff in the emergency department were great. Unfortunately, there was no choice of food for staying in A&E those 2 nights.
This ward is nice. I am in a side room with no TV which is annoying as the day goes so slow not being able to watch anything. Other than this, I am comfortable and the place is clean. The meals are fine and there is enough to choose from on the menu.
I think the hospital needs modernised when I compare it to other hospitals. The building is just so old.
I have been waiting for a gastroenterology consultant for days but I haven't been told when they are coming or if he/she is coming soon. They seem to do their own thing and come when they please. I wish I knew more. Hopefully I'll see them soon.
"Long wait to get a bed on the ward"
