"The Pits"

About: Belvidere Residential Care Home

My 89 year old Mother was SENT here from Russells Hall Hospital, A&E department with a broken humerus, on our arrival we found empty bags with cannabis leaves printed on them on the car park and a strong smell of cannabis, the building itself was dirty and uninviting (not a good start).

We were not allowed in even though my mother had just had a Covid test at the hospital that was negative and we asked if we could take a test, just so we could settle her in due to her Dementia.

We told the member of staff she is prone to falling, and he replied "we would not normally accept people who are prone to falls, although we do have pressure alarms for falls so she will be fine"

TWO days later we had a phone call from the Paramedics (NOT THE HOME!!) saying she was in A&E after a fall.

On our arrival at A&E we found my Mother with a very nasty bump and cut to the side of her temple and eye, and to make things worse the Doctor said she had apparently fallen five times in the home over her short stay at the home, and yet we did not receive one phone call????

Thankfully she is now in another care home, and has not fallen in over a week...

I would be very dubious about the good reviews we saw online, that are sent in by post card etc...

Overall, our experience of Belvidere = very poor
