"I still don't know what is wrong"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 1 South Medical

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I have been in hospital on 1 South for over 3 weeks now and had numerous tests done and still it seems that nobody has a clue what is wrong with me. I feel like this is just not quite good enough. I'm given pain medication to subside the pain which I am thankful for and that does it's job but still I have no idea what is actually wrong with me. I had some tests done and was told the results would be in, but I have still heard nothing back yet. This is my first time back in hospital in a long time and I really think the care has got worse instead of better. The staff are actually all pretty good and helpful they are not the issue but they are always very busy and don't always have the time for people individually. I get a lot of 'maybes' or it could be this or that from doctors but still no answers yet and I have been told I could be in here for at least another week.

I feel like I could take my medication I am being given home and not be in here any longer as I see no need. The food is not great at all, it is the same thing day in and day out and even one of the staff members spoke to me and told me the menu hasn't been changed for nearly 7 years now. By the time you get the food it is cold or either all dried up. The cleaning is good in here and there is never anything laying about on the floor. The nurses again are all great but they are just so busy. I feel just about average with me care. Sometimes I feel confined in the sense I don't know what is wrong with me or how long I will be here either. But it is what it is, I just struggle to deal as I was always a healthy person so this is difficult to take in.
