I just want to highlight what a fabulous bunch the staff are on ward 40, and the RVI in general.
Ambulatory care were rushed off their feet but managed to keep going with good humour. Long delays but this was out of their control and they kept checking in and got me where I needed to be. Once on ward 40 it was a much calmer atmosphere and the staff were just amazing.
From the nurse who was an expert surgical stocking sizer, to the specialist nurse who got blood in one attempt (not easy, you're a pro! ), all the staff who checked in overnight and kept offering food, drinks and reassurance and to the nurse (Conrad, perhaps, I'm sorry I didn't get your name! ) who had me in stitches (not literally, that happened later! ) when he tried to get blood but declared I must, in fact, be an alien.
I really, really appreciated the extra care and the outstanding sense of humour and think they're all marvellous! Big thanks to the surgeons who did a stellar job (I have no recollection of any of it, but I feel loads better! )
You're all amazing, and deserve to be paid and rewarded infinitely more than you are!
"Had me in stiches!"
