About: Stepping Hill Hospital

Had an mri scan on 25th may had to chase results through doctor which showed disc buldge and mild arthritis in l5/s1 lower back since having my mri scan I’ve felt that my symptoms have become worse I’ve been on pain killers now for 5 months gradually having to have stronger ones I’m struggling at work as after a few hours I’m in agony and struggling to even walk. Finally spoke to the spinal team today at stepping hill and was told I could be struggling for a couple of years and that it’s only very mild what I have so just do physio. Whilst it may have been mild when I had the scan nearly 2 months ago doesn’t mean that I’m lying !and not in more pain now that I was then, I’ve felt like I’ve been left and if it wasn’t for my doctors I don’t know what I would of done I’ve had to take time off work this is my third absence and feel the way I was spoke to wasn’t very sensitive to the way I’ve been feeling it’s been making me feel down I’m constantly in tears and today on the phone I just broke down it’s getting too much and I’m getting nowhere I don’t want to be on pain killers all the time and I feel that it’s just not good enough at all, whilst I understand the pandemic there’s people out there that still need help and support. I suffer myself at times with anxiety and all this isn’t helping and on top of that to be told it’s mild when I know myself the pain has got worse is very disappointing. I work in healthcare and I’m on my feet for 13 hour days so tell me please how someone can tell you what your feeling ?? I’m really not happy and very upset with the way I was spoke to

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. I am sorry to hear the support you received did not provide you with assurances. I have contacted the Divisional Team for a response which I will provide once received.

In the meantime, if you would like to discuss further, you can contact me on Patient.Experience@stockport.nhs.uk
