My daughter had oral surgery and subsequent braces done here; she has had them on now for 3 years! Nothing is being done about the fact her tooth, which is attached to a chain to supposedly pull the tooth - hasn't moved at all! It's not moved because it's not being tightened as it should have been. She had surgery in 2018! She is meant to get her braces tightened and the chain looked at every 6 weeks and it's more like 6 months between appointments. Her braces are in a terrible state because they havent been adjusted for so long. It's totally unacceptable. And if covid was such a massive issue, why are her friends who had braces on last year and the year before - now having them removed as they have been seen and adjusted as they should have been. Because they are with another orthodontic department that's why!
If I ring to check on the waiting list and where my daughter is on it and why it is taking so long, I get told 'Oh its covid'. Yes, I understand that the pandemic has been pushing the NHS to its limits, and I work in the health industry myself so know it all too well. But not seeing a patient that clearly needs to be seen is unacceptable.
If your child gets referred to this department for braces, request another hospital or dentist.
"Not good enough!"
