"Myosure outpatient treatment"

About: New Stobhill Hospital / Gynaecology Clinic

(as a service user),

I had removal of uterine polyp today under local anaesthetic- called the myosure procedure.

It is an outpatient treatment and takes 15-20 minutes.

I was seen by a doctor who appeared not to be competent in the procedure. They were undertaking it under the direction of a consultant and I felt it took longer because of the doctors level of skill. I was disappointed that I wasn’t asked if I was comfortable being treated by a doctor in training.

Dear normahr56

Thank you for sharing your feedback on Care Opinion.

I am very sorry that we did not discuss with you that the doctor performing your Myosure procedure would be doing so under the supervision of a consultant as they were training in this procedure. Effective communication is a priority in the care we deliver and I am disappointed this was not your experience, please except my sincere apologies.

I have share your comments with the team and going forward we will ensure effective commination with women attending our service.

I hope you are doing well at this time and recovered well from your procedure.

Best wishes

Isabel Traynor

Lead Nurse, Gynaecology
