"They need to listen to the patient's point of view too"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 1 East Gynaecology Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Most of what I have to say is negative about the consultants. I was on high blood pressure tablets before  coming in here and I told the doctor that I need to be on them but the doctor gave me different ones. Some tablets don't agree with me which I know but this person wouldn't listen to me. These tablets caused me to fill with fluid especially in my legs. I know myself what I can tolerate. The consultant needs to listen to the patient's point of view too. I feel like the doctor is causing me to feel worse rather than get better.

The nurses are very good. They explain everything in simple terms.

The meals are nice and the facilities in this ward are clean.

Unfortunately I arrived by ambulance. The ambulance took ages to come. I had to ring them twice. The ambulance staff were lovely.

I had to wait in A&E for hours in the afternoon and it was freezing because the doors were opening and closing and they didn't even offer me a blanket.

Dear Chafs65 - thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback.

We are sorry to hear you had a long wait and the waiting room in the Emergency department was cold. The doors are automatic for ease of access and for people with a disability. the room temperature is controlled to prevent extremes of temperature.

We will share your story wit the relevant staff, including the medical staff

We hope you are recovering well.

Paul Smyth

Head of Service for ED/MIU
