"My experience at Borders General Hospital maternity unit."

About: Borders General Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I gave birth in July 2021 in the labour suite and stayed for one night on the maternity ward. It was a quick labour only lasting 1hr 15 mins and no time for pain relief, which I was desperate for. I was a difficult patient and uncooperative at many points, but the midwives Kelly and Lesley were fantastic. They kept with me and somehow managed to get through to me what I needed to do. They are remarkable and very skilled. My daughter was born with no complications or intervention required. I am extremely grateful to them and the whole team for the level of care received. My stay on the ward was comfortable and I was well cared for. The tea and biscuit lady was a marvel always appearing when needed. I would also like to mention that a porter rescued us in the lobby and helped get me to the labour suite. Everyone was kind and supportive.

Hi Billibong,

Thank you for your kind feedback. It is difficult to predict what will happen in labour and it is great you felt you were well cared for. We vey much work as a team throughout the hospital.

I shall pass on your lovely comments with the staff who I am sure will be delighted to hear you felt well supported from your arrival at the hospital to the end of your stay on the ward.

I hope things are going smoothly for you at home.

best wishes

Shona
