"Thoughtful and Friendly Staff"

About: The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

Whilst attending for our second scan our baby no longer had a heartbeat - This was awful news and was really difficult to deal with (only two weeks prior everything looked ok). The staff doing the scan couldn't have been kinder and although there was lots of tears the support was unreal - information was made available but not forced onto you. I was really thankful for them providing us with a little memory box which made out process so much easier and gave us opportunity to talk when we really thought we didn't have words left to say. I then opted to have an MVA procedure which in my head was going to be the most traumatic experience ever but thankfully the kindness of the nurses and consultant made this process really easy and I was very thankful for the thought that was given to my partner during this time who couldn't be with me due to covid. Obviously this is a terrible time but I just wanted to say thankyou for doing a fantastic job! A real credit to the NHS!

Dear MMM69,

Please let me offer you my condolences, I appreciate this must be an extremely difficult time for you and we really appreciate you taking time to feed back to us.

The staff within the early pregnancy service can very often, due to the nature of their work, be faced with women and families encountering grief or anxiety however they take pride in ensuring that women remain fully informed of all choices available to them and supported empathetically through this process.

I am humbled that you are thinking of them through this time and will of course share your story and subsequent gratitude with them. I will also share this with the Gynaecology team at PRM who you had also highlighted within your feedback. I wish you all the best in the future and very much hope that we can meet with you again under much happier circumstances,

Kind regards,

Vicki Mazzoni
