"Waiting times for an oral biopsy after seeing consultant"

About: Dundee Dental Hospital

(as a relative),

My husband was seen by a consultant at DDH  and told a biopsy  is required , as may have pre cancerous cells orally.

Was told by the consultant it would be July as my husband works three week shifts offshore.

He was first seen in June 2012.

I believe your targets are to be seen in 12 weeks .

I told receptionist that my husbands shift patterns, yet they sent appointment for Aug when he is away. Receptionist said next appointment is Sept which means that is 13 weeks and breaking guidelines, and as an non-medical member of staff I felt their comment that it wasn't their fault my husband works away. Then added if it was urgent he would be seen at Ninewells oral surgery within two weeks of first consultation which is clinical information that should not be given out as not qualified to do so. Also should not be discussing the patient with me about clinical matters .

I understand that your husbands appointment has now been organised but in order for us to review and improve our service it would be hugely helpful if we could have a conversation so I can fully understand the concerns that you had
