"My experience 4 North, 4 South and Accident and Emergency Craigavon Area Hospital"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 4 North Surgical Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

The staff in accident and emergency were great, they were always busy but it felt like they could do nothing more for you. I was then moved to 4 South where I felt rushed out, the doctors didn't have enough time to find the correct diagnosis and it felt I was only there for 2 minutes. I didn't feel listened to by both nurses and doctors, it felt as if i was frauding them. So

I was discharged, went home and still felt sick. I ended up coming back to A&E where I was told I was misdischarged and the staff seemed quite annoyed about this. My experience in 4 North has been totally different, I feel listened to and I can ask questions, they have great communication skills, the staff here have been amazing. The ward can get noisy, however I feel I have good privacy and the food is okay.

Tracey McGuigan, Lead Nurse SEC, SHSCT

Thank you for taking the time to share your hospital experience.

Firstly I apologize for your first admission experience.

I am delighted to read a more positive experience when in 4 North.

I will ensure this is shared with both 4 North and 4 South nursing staff.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Take care

Tracey
