"A freak accident in my garden - but in safe hands."

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Emergency Medicine Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as the patient),

Last week I was tidying up in the garden getting ready to go out when I found myself hitting the ground so fast I hurt really badly and couldn’t move for so much excruciating pain and shock and struggling to maintain consciousness.

GDoc, ambulance and trauma staff took over and despite some concussion I knew I was in safe hands. Following on for a necessary overnight stay in DAU the staff took over and were so helpful with the difficulties of my injuries.

It was tough for my husband and family worrying as the Covid rules prevented any visit or contact, which we understand.

I am still recovering but doing well I believe for the good care given at such short notice at, what seemed, a very busy time for the emergency services at Dr Gray’s.

“Thank you, so much”

Dear Lindo,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on CareOpinion. I am sorry to read that you suffered such a fall and required the Services of ourselves and the wider NHS Scotland. I hope that you are recovering well and feeling much better.

I am however very pleased to read the lovely comments that you have made around the care that you have received. It is lovely to read that your were looked after so well.

If you would like for these comments to be passed to the crew our team can certainly facilitate this for you. All we would need is the date, rough time and location that the vehicle attended you. You can provide this information here and if you could just also say that it is Lindo from CareOpinion then the team can easily trace it to this story.

Thanks again for your lovely words and I wish you all the very best.

Kind Regards

Alan

Dear Lindo,

Please accept my apologies for the delay in getting back to you – we haven’t been looking at the feedback on Care Opinion as often as we would have liked in the last wee while.

Thanks for sharing your experience – who knew gardening could be so dangerous!

You’re right that it is a very busy time for staff just now and I’m sorry your husband wasn’t able to contact you during your stay – some of our areas with high patient turnover have limited capacity for visitors but we do encouraging virtual visiting and I’m sorry if this wasn’t discussed with you during your time with us.

However, I’m delighted to hear that everyone you came into contact with during your journey through the hospital made you feel safe and helped you begin to recover from your injuries. I shall pass your kind words on to the teams as I’m sure it will bring a smile to their faces.

Thanks again for getting in touch and I hope you continue to make good progress with your recovery.

Take care,

Alasdair
